Fatma Al Majid-a collaboration

a few weeks ago,i found myself extremely busy and collaborating with a qatari born designer, ms.Fatma Al Majid ,for her line ElDeseo which means "The Wish" in spanish.
for the theme.i suggested we do modern arabian princess,a blend of traditonal meeting the modern,using elegant fabrics,such as chiffon,draping it to give a more modern feel and with the use of silver accessories and swarovski ,for the edge.
she gave me the free range to design and conceptualize the look which showed in Dubai Fashion Week last October 24,2010.
here are some of the pieces we collaborated on from her 35 piece collection:




red chiffon with gray silk lining and border.the flowers were handmade(which me and my staff worked on laboriously)
from gray organza and added with gray biased organza ruffles and red ostrich feathers. this was one the three additional pieces we worked on,for the fashion show



black chiffon with red chiffon handmade flowers

turquoise chiffon and silk with silver beading and swarovski natar.
natar in arabic means sprinkle.
note-the hand chiffon pattern took us some time to study since i wanted a handkerchief piece attached at the back of the sleeve.

red chiffon robe with black silk dress underneath.
the silk obi has a brooch made from swarovski  silver crystals.

sapphire blue chiffon with layered pouffed sleeves and swarovski cryastal decor.note on the hand-she couldnt understand it at first and she wanted me to remove it,but when the model wore it for the pictorial,she approved.



white chiffon dress with billowy sleevs and a swarovski patterned neckline.



this was one of the three last minute additional pieces we made for her since we wanted to showcase the fur trimming and the banig (weave)pattern for the lower part.

black jersey hooded dress with fur trimming and leather beaded neckline.a gamble from the very start when i suggested  it to her since she's not a big fan of trims.however,after she saw the finished product,she liked it.



mango colored chiffon dress  with billowy sleeves and swarovski pattererned neck piece.note on the holes on the shoulders,she couldnt figure out it at first,but like it after we finished it.



light rose chiffon dress with shirred torso and chiffon cape attached at the back.my signature beadwork appears on the front half side and half back.

cobalt blue jersey dress with batwing sleeves accented with beads on the collar and cuffs.

plum color chiffon dress with layered bodice.note on the beadwork,its around ten meters of half inched size beadwork and we had to handstitched it to the edge of the chiffon.



if plans push through,we plan on having another collaboration for another show by january 2011.
